I have been researching a BP/W and have just about decided on the DSS combination that you can see at the following link:

http://www.deepseasupply.com/

Just wondering what the difference is between the deluxe cut metal D ring in the picture and the standard D ring that is on most other harnesses? Can anyone who has one enlighten me? Other than the obvious looks, does it make a difference? Seems that the standard D ring would be a little easier to use since there are no edges, but there must be a difference or reason, otherwise, why? Not a big deal, just curious.

The plate cut rings are "fixed" i.e. they do not pivot. Some prefer this, some do not.

The cross section of the "ring" portion of the plate cut rings is about the same as a 5mm wire ring, so "edges" are not a real issue.

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for.

Admittedly I am using garden variety bolt snaps from Home Depot, but I find that the edges of the Cut D-Ring do gouge a bit of the metal on the inside edge of the bolt snap. This probably is because the material of the bolt snap is softer than the D-Ring.

I am ordering some stainless bolt snaps to rectify this and other issues with my current bolt snaps.

Just thought this might be useful to know so you don't experience the issues that I have.
