The Vero Beach Scuba Club and Scuba Partners currently has a couple of spots still open for our March 1-4 trip to the Dry Tortugas.

The Dry Tortugas is the most remote place you can dive from Florida. It is accessible only by boat. Diving is pristine and the wealth of sea life is amazing. Most diving is between 40 and 80 feet though there are several deeper sites that we may visit. One can plan on 6-8 dives a day on the shallow days!

We'll be on the Ultimate Getaway (upload_2018-1-23_8-4-32.gifwww.ultimategetaway.net).
Our itinerary is:
Boat leaves from Fort Meyers (18450 San Carlos Boulevard in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida )
March 1- Divers arrive any time after 1 pm. Divers choose a bunk, pick a spot on the dive deck and assemble gear. The Ultimate Getaway leaves the dock for the Dry Tortugas at 6 pm. No dinner served that evening. Divers should eat on land before we depart.
March 2- Dive Day
March 3- Dive Day
March 4- Dive Day. Return to the dock by 5 pm.

What is included:
Breakfast, lunch and dinner (except 1st night)
Coffee, tea, soft drinks, water
Air fills, tanks and weights
Nitrox is available for a small one time service charge of $40.

What to bring:
Personal dive gear including extra batteries for computers and lights.
All divers ARE REQUIRED to have a “safety sausage” or “see-me tube” on their person on ALL dives.
Sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and any personal hygiene products.
Everything else is provided, except a gratuity for the crew, 10-15% would be greatly appreciated.
Alcoholic beverages :)

Cost & Booking Info
Total cost is $900.

Scuba Partners and the Vero Beach Scuba Club is sponsoring this trip. Call Stuart Scuba at 772-600-8288 to reserve and make a deposit. A $250 deposit is due before the end of January. Balance to be paid in mid-February. We will also have several instructors on board and can accommodate any number of scuba specialty classes. Just let us know if you have any interest.

This is going to be an awesome trip and not to be missed!

I spoke at length to the new owners night before last. The boat is gutted to the scantlings, and all new cabins and bunks and galley and interior are going back in. It's going to be sharp. And smell good.

This will be the second trip since new overhaul (new generators instead of those screaming Jimmies), so it will have been shaken down and will be ready to go. The water will still be cold so the chance of seeing big fish is great. They should sill be on the reef cap.

Is this a hunting trip, Paul?

... And smell good.

Wow, sounds like they are renovating quickly which is good news. Beer taps next to the soda machine would be a space saver. In the old days, we would laugh at the new guys on the UG who would show up with cases and cases of beer and spirits just to leave 3/4's of it for the crew at the end of the trip because they were worn out diving. Rick would just laugh at everything brought on board.

Is this a hunting trip, Paul?
SAFMC has the answer to that question, lol !

Hogfish will be closed, not sure if the other species fall into Gulf or Atlantic regulations. Not likely to be a lot of species to shoot if Atlantic.
A lot of bigger fish will be in shallow,so like Frank said ,great opportunity to see and video or photograph those.
