Diving wet in the PNW in winter sounds better if you are giving advice from Florida. I doubt you will be happy using a wetsuit. Really, I think a few shake down dives with some experienced drysuit divers would be your best bet. Most of my dry diving occurs above 40’. It is eminently doable, but master it before you add more equipment and tasks like getting photography right for someone topside.

Nothing worse than f*cking up at work with an audience…
