So I know it sounds crazy but I’m wearing a dry suit with just a base layer on in water temps above 75* F.

I’ve taken my entry level tec classes and have been trying to dive every weekend to get more time in the dry suit and doubles. My main goal with these weekend training dives is to gain a rock solid base skill set in doubles and dry suit. Unless I’m going to drive 3 hrs the only diving is shallow fresh water. Still good for the skills work I’m doing but never any colder then 75* on the bottom and more like 85* on the platform.

anyway....I’m sweating my ass off. No a big deal as I’m pretty happy with the 4th Element J2 base layer in terms of its wicking ability. But I need a sock solution. Right now I have been wearing thin wool socks. But as I keep a little air in my feet...it gets down right swampy in there. I’m spending 70-120mins in the water and my feet come out looking like I spent that time in a warm bath.

Anyone have any ideas?

I think that for a basic wicking layer, you don't need a scuba-specific solution. Anything with the right properties and comfort at REI, Cabela's, Dick's, etc. should do the trick.

Warm weather ski socks :)

Super thin running socks suck in a dry suit. In warm waters I use REI 1/4 height wool hiking socks ($14 per pair). They are thick enough to absorb moisture but thin enough my feet dont cook. For colder waters I like the Costco regular height wool hiking socks ($12 for 4 pair).
