Has anyone tested these masks that cover your ears? I am curious if they alleviate the problems caused by waterpressure and ear infections as the manufacturer claims.

:hmmm:

I have a customer who uses them. They seem to work well he even has a hood made to fit around the ear cups. You still need to equalize but they keep your ears dry.

I lifted this from another post by Large_Diver:

Go over to the scubadiving.com message board and use the search function to search for ProEar -- there is quite a bit of feedback (including a few detailed reviews) and most of it looks positive from what I've seen, especially from folks who have experienced ear problems. Howard is a frequent poster over there as well and has provided a lot of folks with details on this product.

With all due respect to Howard aka H-Man, the only information about hs product is anecdotal and mostly supplied by HIM.

There doesn't seem to be any material from independent medical professionals at all. If there is, I would be interested in seeing it.

I only bring this up because on some boards this gentleman will offer advice about this product as a panacea for all ear-related diving problems. However, when he does this, no mention is made of the fact that he is the inventor/vendor of this product. Seems a little biased & self serving to me.

Just wanted to tell BOTH sides of the story.

Thank you for the responses. I have a friend who is thinking about diving, but is worried about his ears.

Many Thanks

tentacle, if your friend has problems with his ears, I suggest he consult an ENT; preferably one who is knowledgeable in diving medicine.

He may want to look here on Doc Campbell's website for some physicians in his area: http://www.scuba-doc.com/

Bon chance,
