We never discussed 'With a buddy before the dive, prepare emergency
breathing equipment, and position it at the safety
stop depth'.
Which is what my apparently too cryptic comment meant. They obviously had to have had a discussion in which the instructor told him what to do, but the instructor's instructions were not consistent with the standards.

You are responding to the OP!

Thank you very much for the clarification.
Based on this, it is very clear who is the guilty person.
That instructor is NOT trustworthy and glad you had left.
There are plenty experienced and good instructor in Philippines.
Where was it ?
I'm still considering what I should do next - I'll let you know in course if that's ok. Its a shop on Coron Bay though.

Of course it is ok.
Very nice wrecks in Coron.
Why would you choose Coron for your DM training?
I do not think it is a popular spot for OW/AOW students.
Given the situation in Philippines, most centres are pretty quiet now because of lack of foreign tourists.
