Standard (35Ah) Gavin $1,000

  • Batteries need replacing
  • Strong motor recently rebuilt (01/19/2015) by Curt at DPV Repair with a SS Hi-Power Brush Board (no solder; $250 upgrade)
  • PVC backend but not the oldest PVC backend where the bolts go through the housing
  • Battery Tender charger and some extra parts included
  • Great starter scooter or project to convert to Lithium Ion batteries like I’ve done with my other Gavin (the reason for the brush board upgrade)

Rocket (Standard 35 Ah Gavin Copy) $1,000

  • Batteries are good but I haven’t done a recent burn test on them

Both scooters are currently located in Austin, Tx. Before shipping I will remove my last name and buddies last name. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Tekscubapro,

Is that $1000 each or for both? What is the cost to replace the batteries? What is cost and involved to convert to Li Ion. I'm in Canada, but what would shipping be to Ogdensburg NY, 13669?

$1,000 EACH. If you want to replace the lead acid batteries it will cost around $150 - $200 depending on where you get the batteries. I seem them online going for around $65 each. The scooter takes two. If you are interested in the Gavin, I can remove the batteries before shipping since they need replacing anyways.

As for converting to Li Ion that could range from $500 to $2,000. All depends on what type of Li Ion. I converted my other short tube gavin to LiFePO4 from Hong Kong for $420 (plus extra $$ for the connectors etc). All in probably about $500. If you are on Cave Divers Forum I've posted some picks of my conversion in the Scooter forum.

This backend compatible with the T-handle mod from DPV Repair? Any more pics showing the state of the scooters? Which is in better shape?

JohnnyC... sorry for taking so long to reply. I was in FL cave diving over the long weekend.

Both are in great shape. As stated I had Curt from DPV repair totally rebuild the motors putting in the SS Hi-Power Brush Boards. This avoids soldered connections that can melt if you run the motor hot. I've been putting in long hours on my third short tube Gavin that has this as well and it has been great! No issues what so ever. Perfect for running the slightly higher voltages that Li Ion batteries have.

Yes, the Gavin backend is compatible with the T-Handle from DPV repair. I even had my short tube converted that way. Much more comfortable than the standard Gavin / Tekna handle. I'll post more pics tonight for you.

Edit: I'll have to look at the Gavin Copy to see if the T-Handle will work but I can't imagine there would be a problem.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Both scooters sold pending payment
