Sad news in the California diving community as we've learned of the passing of diving pioneer and first female dive instructor Dottie Frazier. Every time she did something in diving, she was doing a "first." First female to go through the LA County UICC program, first female dive shop owner(Penguin Dive Shop), first designer of wetsuits for women, and the list goes on and on. She would have turned 100 this July but was still a young spirit, full of energy and drive. In fact, she had just published her biography "Trailblazer: The Extraordinary Life of Diving Pioneer Dottie Frazier,' available on Amazon, in 2019. The California Diving Community is going to miss her and we look forward to when we see her out there again. Her family's announcement can be found here.

RIP to a true diving pioneer. I had the pleasure of meeting Dottie at one of Jeff Rice's Legends of Diving meets at Portage Quarry. The diving community owes much to Dottie's long and impressive career in the sport.

Condolences to family and friends.
