Doris M. Te'Ketch Murphy, 88, of Scranton, died Friday at the Linwood Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Murphy.
A lifelong resident of Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Marshall Te'Ketch, she was a devoted parishioner of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. Her lifelong passion of physical fitness and scuba diving led her to become the owner and president of PDIC, an international Scuba instruction certification entity. She was also a past director of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton YMCA for several years. Her career afforded her many travel expeditions, which she enjoyed to the fullest.
Doris was also preceded in death her son, Keith "Mel" Murphy; brothers, James and Joseph Te'Ketch; and dear sister, Helen Jean Te'Ketch Kurjeski.
A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Frank M. Regan Funeral Home, Scranton.

I'd like to nominate Doris for the Women Divers Hall of Fame for running a training agency - an honor she was too shy to receive while alive. She was a tough, spirited lady. Doris and Frank Murphy taught me to dive over 30 years ago.
