Hi all,

I am a not a technical diver but an undergrad engineering student!
I have begun the development and construction of a Doppler Meter and I am hoping to use it for blood flow measurments.
I was wondering if any of you had had experiences with or purchasing a Doppler Meter ? When and what diving situations have you used them for? Can you suggest models, companies, etc.. Also, if this is in your field of interest/specialty what would you a suggest a good source of information is?

Thanks.:crafty:

This is an interesting project and I can not wait to hear more as it progresses.

The Duke Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology uses Techno Scientific Doppler Model DBM 9008. This is a continuous wave with 2.5 MHz crystal Precordial Array Probe - Model TSI-DPA7

A search for "Doppler" in the Rubicon Research Repository (http://archive.rubicon-foundation.org/) will yeild 157 results.

These are a few of my favorites:
Investigation of New Principles for Human Decompression Schedules Using Doppler Ultrasonic Blood Bubble Detection. by Spencer and Johanson (RRR ID# 3788).

Mechanism and Detection of Decompression Sickness. Powell (RRR ID# 3789)

Doppler Detection of Silent Venous Gas Emboli in Non-Decompression Diving Involving Safety Stops. Uguccioni, MS Thesis (RRR ID# 3430).

We were just granted permission by the Canadian Military to start adding DCIEM and DRDC technical reports (Thanks to the hard work of Dr. Nishi). We hope to start the addition of those soon. That will cover a significant portion of the work you would be interested in here. Since this is for a specific project, if you find something you are really interested in, PM me. I will push it up in our priority.

If you can locate a copy of the DCIEM Table Manual, you will find more very useful information. (It is available through the Duke University Medical Library if you are a student. Just make the request from your university library for the loan.)

For locating other research, we have put my last talk on "Diving Medical Literature" online. That will give you more locations to look for information. (http://rubicon-foundation.org/gue.html)

Good luck!
