Guys,
Thanks for all the feedback.
Well I guess it is true what they say, you just cant please everyone.
Anyway just to add my two cents in reply. We are definitely not about promoting any unsafe diving practises, dont die without any scars is a parody of the movie (Fightclub, for anyone who doesnt get out much), it is not intended to taken be entirely literally.
What we are about is getting people off the sofa and out on the water to have some fun. Diving as I am sure you all agree is an exciting past time and one that many never get sufficient opportunity to peruse despite completing open water training.
As far as being dorkish, well yes and yes, but we think were funny and our pre-release focus group agreed (admittedly it did consist of me the cat and another guy who was quite drunk at the time).
As far as who we are trying to attract is concerned, we want people who have a sense of humour and a sense of fun, people who see diving as both a social and recreational pursuit, 2 dives to 2000 doesnt matter, if you simply enjoy sharing the underwater experience with other people. Anyone who considers your basic recreational diver (like me) a member of the great unwashed is probably not in our target.
Azza, firstly the spam thing, yes posting on forums was probably ill conceived, if you want to critique episode II, you wont get it here, but feel free to bag it on forums anyway, particularly the acting which I think we can all agree is pretty lame.
As far as what our dive club can give you, well I think thats about finding a group that you connect with and you enjoy diving with and spending time with. Maybe you SODs already have such a community, however I think there are divers out there that have not found their niche yet, maybe they are a bit too dorkish, hopefully theyll find their spot with us. Maybe their gear will stop appearing for sale on trademe with the bi-line as new, we can only but try.

Why re invent the wheel? Just join SODS!
I have no idea where you got that impression from Andy. Why do you have that impression?I thought SODS was anti-dive industry and opposed to any form of commercialism???
