Ah, but in the words of Lance Murdoch..... Chicks dig scars. And the United States of America has the best doctor-to-daredevil ratio in the world!... :hurt:

Not my cup of tea, Aaron, to be honest. Not really sure it's the best advertisement for your dive club either...? Looks a bit :dork2:ish, but I guess it depends on who you are trying to attract.

The clock is ticking, don't die without any scars.

Dude are you still spamming all the forums?

Tell you what. I will give you a shot if you can tell me;

What can your club offer me that the zillion other dive shop clubs in NZ cant?

If you impress me I will join.

Cheers

Guys,
Thanks for all the feedback.
Well I guess it is true what they say, you just can’t please everyone.
Anyway just to add my two cents in reply. We are definitely not about promoting any unsafe diving practises, “don’t die without any scars” is a parody of the movie (Fightclub, for anyone who doesn’t get out much), it is not intended to taken be entirely literally.
What we are about is getting people off the sofa and out on the water to have some fun. Diving as I am sure you all agree is an exciting past time and one that many never get sufficient opportunity to peruse despite completing open water training.
As far as being “dorkish”, well yes and yes, but we think we’re funny and our pre-release focus group agreed (admittedly it did consist of me the cat and another guy who was quite drunk at the time).
As far as who we are trying to attract is concerned, we want people who have a sense of humour and a sense of fun, people who see diving as both a social and recreational pursuit, 2 dives to 2000 doesn’t matter, if you simply enjoy sharing the underwater experience with other people. Anyone who considers your basic recreational diver (like me) a member of the great unwashed is probably not in our target.
Azza, firstly the spam thing, yes posting on forums was probably ill conceived, if you want to critique episode II, you won’t get it here, but feel free to bag it on forums anyway, particularly the acting which I think we can all agree is pretty lame.
As far as what our dive club can give you, well I think that’s about finding a group that you connect with and you enjoy diving with and spending time with. Maybe you SOD’s already have such a community, however I think there are divers out there that have not found their niche yet, maybe they are “a bit too dorkish”, hopefully they’ll find their spot with us. Maybe their gear will stop appearing for sale on trademe with the bi-line “as new”, we can only but try.

Good onya mate. I'm all for people trying to keep divers diving. I'm probably over committed at the moment with Sods but if I get a chance I am open to coming along on one of your trips.

As far as the Spamming goes, your best bet is probably to introduce yourself on the forums in the appropriate area (Here on SB it would be the NZ Forum) first, then write an article about who you are, what you offer and how people can join. That goes down better than some crazy one liners (Which actually were quite funny) and a link to your website. I think people are more likely to read something when they have an idea about the person that wrote it.

Good Luck

Cheers

Why re invent the wheel? Just join SODS!

I thought SODS was anti-dive industry and opposed to any form of commercialism???
I have no idea where you got that impression from Andy. Why do you have that impression?
