Welcome to SCUBABOARD. Best suggestion I can make is browse the forums and read everything that looks interesting to you.

Welcome to the Board. Read around the board, there is a lot of useful information here. Then find dive shops in your area and check them out. Talk to the people there, and when you find one you are comfortable with start your classes.

welcome aboard

Welcome! In addition to the other suggestions, I'd add that you should fill out your profile so that people who are near to you might provide information about local dive shops (LDS) and classes.

Thanks for all your suggestions... Something else I was wondering about, is it possible to dive on a budget. It seems to me that diving is quite costy!!

Thanks again.

welcome to ScubaBoard.....the best place to start from is the beginning....find an Local Dive Shop (LDS) or an instructor in your area and get signed up. the sport can get expensive but you can start out renting gear and it can be eased into relitively effectively....hope this helps...

Welcome Aboard!!!
I can see you've already gotten some good advice...there is lots of good people here with very good advice. Find an LDC you're comfortable with and ask lots of questions.
Good Luck!!
