I stayed at the Evergreen hotel. While I wasn't on honeymoon, I did see their honeymoon suite (sweet!). They are not in town, which was good for us but not too far. The hotel is closer to champagne beach so that's good for a visit. There is a great dive operation next door (Dive Dominica) which I highly recommend. The diving is very nice and there is a LOT for non-diving folks to do. Not the least of which are the incredible trails there. PM me if you want details - there is a lot to know about the island that you won't see online. I didn't write a trip report on SB but you can see my recommendations on TA here.

We stayed at Picard Beach Resort. Had a beautiful bungalo right on the beach with snorkeling about 200 feet up the beach. Cooked for ourselves. Picard arainged guides for whatever we wanted to do so car not necessary. Dominica is a truely wonderful place, even if you don't dive.

We stayed at Castle Comfort Lodge(next door to Evergreen Hotel), home of Dive Dominica dive operation........Great shore diving from there with greater boat diving---a little further south, ie IMO the best EVER I've had in the Caribbean....It's seems to me from reading different posts that Evergreen may be a little better option for your non-diving wife---but saying that, when we go back again we're staying @ CCL.....ALSO, The land(topside stuff) is 2nd to none on that island, with the rain forests, Trafalgar Falls--Titou Gorge--Boiling Lake--Screws etc etc..Also remember parts of 'Pirates of the Caribbean part 2 & 3' were filmed there.........Our pics(land & UW) are @ this link--they all have Dominica in the Album names listed on the left side under "Your Bucket"...............Joe Roy's (GEAUXtiger) Library | Photobucket

I tend to disagree on the car issue. We rented a car and had a lot more freedom. If you want to pop into town or go to the north coast, its easy with a car. Rental is not much but the gas is very expensive. You would pay for this anyway even if you used the guides.
