Folks,

NOW is the time to do a boat charter in Monterey/Carmel - I was out on both Saturday and Sunday, and on both days, ran into a pod of 100-200 large Risso's dolphins, along with a large number of common dolphins, who were very playful and were hanging around the boat racing alongside and riding the wake, and what looks to be a pair of humpback whales with a smaller humpback (maybe a 1-2 year old calf?), which were mating on Sunday!

Very impressive stuff, better than anything we saw on the dive (even the pair of wolf eels). The common dolphins were great - they were racing the boat only a few feet away and would break the surface as they came alongside. The larger species of dolphins appeared to be feeding, and every now again one would fully leap out of the water.

It was cool!
