I'm a Fish!
I am trying to set up Thunderbird as my other email client just died a horrible death. But I have some questions that I am just not seeing the answers to and today simply need the "idiot's guide" if possible.

1) I want to add a very simple signature to all of my messages automatically when I compose a new email or reply to one. Outlook Express does this by entering it in a box and clicking apply. I don't see this in TB.

2) I don't want the message to send right away - very annoying. They should slide into the outbox and then disappear quietly. I can't find the setting for this either...whenever I click send I get the little bar with green lights running across it...

Thanks - my brain is fried...

OK...I've made a text document (PITA) but how do I create the active link to my website that needs to be in my signature?

In addition on #2 above - when it doesn't send (for whatever reason) it doesn't go anywhere - just sits on my screen. Why doesn't it go to the unsent mail folder? What is that for??

for #1, you need to format the text document as html, and give it the .htm extension for it to mark up the web-site address and make it clickable.

#2 from the thunderbird support forums:http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=253937&highlight=delay
"The feature doesn't live "up" to OE - but there's something similar.

Hit CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER when you want send messages to Outbox.
There's an extension, if you want a button instead. It's called Outbox.

When you're all done "sending" all your mails to the Outbox, then you can send them (like really, really send them) by File > Send Unsent Messages."

Quote:

// Turn off extra sending window
user_pref("mailnews.show_send_progress", false);
