Dock Dive Du Jour

I went to the marina at sunrise this morning to clean the bottom of our boat, repair Merry's wrist seal and add coordinates to our GPS. Since I was going to be in the water, I brought along my camera.

The usual suspects were out and about. The only unusual sightings were a Cadlina sparss and a few tiny fish vertebrae on the silt.

In the first picture, just to the left of the yellow nudi, there is what looks like some kind of "creature", kind of like the worm guys from Men in Black. Is that a shrimp or some other type of crustacean? I see them in another picture, the white nudi in the middle of the red sponge has 6 or 7 in it. So, animal or some kind of plant?

Nice pics. It's amazing how the water always looks so clear in macro photos.

It's Caprella californica with eggs. Every surface is crawling with them.

I was using a diopter that requires the glass to be within an inch or two from the subject, so there isn't as much water between the lens and subject. Photoshop helps get rid of particulates as well.

Excuse my confusion / ignorance... what are we looking at exactly in the 5th pic? That looks like multiple nudibranchs together? I can't tell where one creature ends and one begins.

It's a pair of mating Navanaxes laying eggs. They seem to enjoy multiple positions.
