I was wondering if whole all on these boards owns their own boat. My family Owns a 36 Foot Trojan Cruiser. We are gettin ready to sell the Trojan and We have just boughten a new 21 foot 2003 Cape Horn.;)
What about you guys?

Not our boat but just like it.

Own a 20 footer, used for sunset cruisin, fishin, crabbin, hitting small islands for private picnics kind of stuff. In theory we could use it for diving, but most stuff done around here is a couple miles offshore - not the place I want to be in a 20' if something blows up. People do it though...

...but currently are boatless. The last four or five have been sailboats of varying lenghts and weights, but the next one will be a powerboat to use as a dive platform for here on the Great Lakes.(I'm getting too old to be up on a foredeck dousing sails in roughwater) I'm currently leaning towards a used 25' Sea Ray or similar on a trailer so I'm not paying slippage fees. A boat on a trailer gets 55mph or better on the way to the dive site (behind the truck) and allows me to greatly expand my dive area. Plus, at 25' is big enough to deal with most of what the Great Lakes will offer up, if you are aware of the weather and what is coming at you...

I own a 24 footer and regard it as my most expensive and maintainence intensive piece of dive equipment. Air is cheap compared to slip fees. :)

I partially own a ship that's 1000ft long :D I call it the USS Kitty Hawk, unfortunately it's a VERY SMALL share paid for by my tax money. I get to live on it sometimes but I can control where we go on it.:(

In other words....damn...I'm jealous of you people who own their own boats.

Used to have a 20' motorboat, Citation, 170 hp.

Used it a lot for diving in Lake Champlain in Northern NY. Miss it a lot because I could use it to dive anywhere I wanted when I wanted.

Problem was the tank weight on a boat that size dramatically extended the boat travel times.

Saving my $$ for a new one in the future.

I have a 23 foot Wellcraft that's not sea worthy at the moment.

My Father-In-Law gave the boat to me back in February. It was missing the outdrive, needed some other work and had been in storage for a couple of years. I've been working hard on it to get it back in the water. I re-did all the wood work, finished installing the engine that had been removed and fixed several electrical problems. I just installed the outdrive yesterday, got the motor running and found out that the coupler that connects the engine to the outdrive is bad and the engine needs to come back out to replace it. :banging:

Anyone in south Florida have a boat engine hoist I can use?:)

I own a 33 foot Chris Craft, She has Twin Corvette motors that were rebuilt to 400HP. Currently she is drydocked waiting for the engines and an interior rework. In the process I am going to Scrape and Paint the hull.. She is not going to get wet for about another year.

Had two of them at one point..

Years ago when I was a commercial crabber and professional beach bum I had a 24' 1972 Sea Ray that we replaced the original power plant on with an '84 Mercruiser 260. Used it more for off shore fishing than anything because it was a gas PIG, but best to go out 50-60 miles in the Gulf in.

The other float was a 15' 1960 Thunderbird shallow V hull that we finally hung an 88 Yamaha pro 50 on (and modified the hull with some of that foam sealer in the false bottom and a nice new transom). That one was the short day trap puller/ski boat/cruise around the bays/fishing back waters or flats boat.

I'm torn as to what I want for my next boat. I really like this 40' open back tug I've seen... it would need some shade installed, but the deck is AWESOME for pre/post dive.
