I've looked through 5 pages of archives and didn't find this discussed. In Chuck86's account of his Cozumel DCS ordeal he had some rules. #4 was to not step on a dive boat without asking if they have emergency O2 and know how to use it. My question is how many board members dive at all without O2 available? In over 300 dives (I know not many compared to some) I have not yet dove without O2 on the boat or shore and believe it would take an extraordinary circumstance before I would even though we've never needed to use it. Any thoughts?

I can only think of a handful of dives that I didn't have O2 available to me but I also knew that going in. 99% of the time I have it available either on the boat or on site.

Generally all my local diving is without O2 on site. All the boats I have been on have had O2 kits. Most of my diving is local.

I have emergency 02 on our boat. It does not get used much for emergency purposes(only once in7-8 years of having it aboard, but it is one of those things that is very nice to have if you need it.

I agree DA. I just recently aquired a dan o2 kit. I decided it would be nice to have for me or my buddies since I shore dive quite often. I hope I'll never need it, but will be glad if I do that I had it available.
