i am starting to dive after being away for 18 years. my question is, do i need a new regulator or just service the one i have now? it is a poseidon cyklon super 300. i used it for about 10 dives and is in excellent condition except for it's age. thanks for any info.

Oh man! You've got a classic!

I would replace all the o-rings and the rubber diaphram is now made of silicone. Many divers use Cyclon's older than yours and they work perfectly.

Here is the address of Michael Rainone. He has serviced my Odin and is in Panama City, Fl. He used to service the U.S. Nay's regs and is a strong Poseidon endorser. I am sure he would tell you to keep it and just have it serviced.

I envy you.

that is for sure. And then I would ask your LDS if I could use there pool and a tank and check it out. I picked up a used BC and Reg's from a co-worker (Sherwood) and went to my LDS and asked to borrow a tank and use the pool and they said no problem. I got a deal, the guy used it for 3 or 4 dives and I picked up both for $100.00 and put about 60 more dives on it. I just replaced it last Oct, but then again I am getting into the training and professional side of the diving and they expect you to have nice up dated gear. But it was worth the money I spent, so I would say get your reg's serviced and see how they work.
