Do 'dive resorts' fill tanks or are they just booking agencies for 'dive shops'?

I'm going to Fiji (Taveuni) soon and am trying to find out which is the best operator there. But there are places that call themselves 'dive resorts' - quite a few of them in fact. But I want to check with them whether they are DIN or Yoke and whether they do Nitrox - and whether they have gear that will suit my partner's son.

But if the thing that makes them a 'dive resort' is that they can refer you to local dive shops to book a trip, that's no use. I don't want to be talking to a middle man. I want to talk to the people who will be filling the cylinders.

As far as dedicated dive shops, I can only see 2.

the dive resorts like taveuni dive, paradise taveuni, and garden island have their own boats and onsite shop. most tanks will be yoke.

I haven't been to Fiji so not specific to there - but as a general rule, I've never run across a place anywhere calling itself a dive resort that wasn't what I would consider a dive resort. Or where this would be a thing you need to overthink too much. The relationship between an on-site shop and the resort part might vary between really the same business, to a legally separate business with a close relationship, sometimes so integrated into the resort you can't tell it's separate. If there is a way on the website to contact the dive part of things use that. If not, I would have faith dive specific questions will get directed to the appropriate people as needed and someone won't just make up an answer. (And if they do such a thing, it will tend to be obvious.) Some questions like about Nitrox reservation staff should be well on top of.
