can anyone help?I am just starting on doing my dm course including the internship section. I am working my way slowly throgh the knowledge review book and at the moment am getting about a 70% pass so i know i need to improve! I have not yet seen any past exam papers although i have obviously seen the answers in the instuctor manual. Are the DM exam questions the same sort of questions that are in the knowledge review? Can i also get past papers to have a practice on? I have asked at my club but have received only a vague answer and told not to worrry about the exams! But i am the tye that needs to know whats expected of me!can anyone help

It has been a few years since I took the PADI DM exam, but it seems to me that even though there were questions from the knowledge reviews on the test, most of the questions came from the "Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving."

Study. Study. Study.

Your instructor should be reviewing with you and reviewing the material you are having trouble with on your KR's.

I did my DM in 1990. My instructor gave us his own tests (100 or more questions each) before each KR in order to prep us. We reviewed anything we missed over and over and over and.....

A couple of years later I found out these tests he was giving us were the same he gave to his instructor candidates. Guess he wanted us to be prepared.

Since you don't say whether there is any specific area you are having difficulty with, it is a bit hard to provide specifics.

BritishDiver, I agree with both responses. It is important that your instructor reviews with you the material until the student understands it completely.

You said you 'have just started' ... it takes a lot of studying to get through all the material, so the best advice is Keep at it and make sure your insturctor is available for clarification when needed. Also, I do remember that quite a few of the questions came from the Encyclopedia of Diving - get one and start studying with it.

Let us know if you have specific concerns, we'll try to help.

cheers,
maria

Everything I needed to know for the DM exam was covered in my OW course. Our OW instructor wanted us to be prepared.

Except for the 'political' section, i.e. questions on PADI standards, you should know everything in there just from being a properly prepared diver.

Go and read the entire Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving. Wait a week and read it again. Then try the KR's again.

Hey, BD....is this a troll??
