This past weekend while diving at Ginnie Springs I developed some mild dizziness during my ascents, all of these ended in my feeling somewhat nauseous when I got out of the water. My ears were clearing without problems and I haven't felt any problems since returning home. What could be the problem? I actually felt so bad during one surface time that I did not continue the dive with the rest of our group. I am going to West Palm Beach weekend after next and would like to resolve this before that trip. I know I will be wearing a Transderm Patch as I get seasick if not and wondered if that will help.

I'm not an MD - so this is a layman's opinion:
Most likely, even though your ears were appearing to clear normally, they weren't clearing equally and simultaneously - and what you had was mild alternobaric vertigo. If one does enough diving they'll experience it sooner or later - not a big deal. At this point I wouldn't worry too much, but if you have it on "every" dive trip or even on "many" dives, I'd get it checked out with an ENT familiar with diving.
