You guys gave me some great ideas when I asked about fin straps :D

Now I'm wondering about tank boots. Anyone make any from PVC pipe or caps or something? Or pehaps rubber tubes? I have several tanks that need boots and the cheapest I saw (including shipping) was over $15 ea. I wouldn't mind paying five or six bucks for one but I could probably get another steel 72 including hydro for the price of three boots.

PVC Pipe of the diameter of an 80 cu. ft. tank is quite expensive. If you want to make your own economically you would need free pipe. $15 each is actually probably the best you are going to do unless you have plastic extruding / molding equipment available to you.
My only idea would be to use inner tube material glued to a piece of flat plastic. I wouldn't know where to get the flat plastic from though.
