To finish story ( not quite ; I have SS and one as sample from wrong alloy aluminium ( waiting for right alloy ) some pictures from my galery BACKPLATE - - ScubaBoard Gallery

plate is DTD , DIR ZONE single wing compatibile SS 3mm thick , weight 3,29 kg , (Al=1,16kg) long 54.8mm , volume 419308 mm3 , final electropolished

All additional weight from original BP is under waist that mean :
(2,7kg (original ) + 0,59 kg (extension )) in case of SS and
(0,7kg (original ) + 0,46 kg (extension )) in case of Al

I have put square holes ( in case of some P / W weight need to be attached ) is simple screwing with no tools and one hand ;-) .

Main reason for that plate is long torso and short legs , I have to push weights lower from my waist as posible , but I still like that all weight & tank share over whole plate and keep balance lower.

I have choose DIY because longer plates are :

- too expensive ,
- too heavy ( 5mm , 6mm, SS - no aluminium ; DSS have some Kydex plates ) ,
- without single tank slots (you needed STA , but in that case no profit in weight distribution and loss ) ,
- made to measure ;-)

Plate have some scratches from raw plates and after bending plates , some inner material tensions are visable if viewing under low angles.
