I'm an AOW PADI diver who's recently been diagnosed with a prolapsed disc at the lower lumbar (l5S0). After 6 months without an operation, I am now free of any symptoms, and am carrying on with other sports like Mountain Biking and caving - question is, is it safe to continue diving? I feel strong enough to kit up etc, but wondered about DCS in the disc (the chances of it and the effects suffered). All advice and articles I have read refer diving post operative disc surgery -I have read that it should be safe after operation and recovery, but this seems extreeme measures as I feel fine and active without surgery. Any thoughts?
