Greetings -

I'm having trouble locating the videos of the Scubaboard member diving with some very friendly seals in England. Can someone post a link to get me there? I want to show them to a friend.

Thanks!

Those are the ones, thanks! I tries 3 or 4 different Youtube searches, got a lot of returns, but still couldn't find these.

I'm pretty sure this is the videographer: bburville

Hi,

The videographer is indeed Ben Burville, his 10min film "Magic Beneath the Waves" won the British Underwater Film Festival 2010.

Some of the boats that make trips to the Farnes Islands (off the English east coast where that was filmed) are booked up to a year in advance :(

He posts regularly on a popular UK divers forum, fairly easy to contact.

Thanks for the interest.

I know that I'm very lucky to be able to do this all year round and share this with other divers if they are calm enough.

Having observed and filmed the seals underwater behaviour for over 10yrs I have been fortunate to have seen many unusual behaviours. One thing that has struck me throughout this time is just how gentle these mammals can be. They are very inquisitive and have some highly developed senses (their whiskers can detect fish even after the fish have swum by 30 secs before!)

There are various techniques that I have learnt to facilitate these interactions; but rest assured the seals are 100% in control!

Thanks again,
Safe diving,

Absolutely sublime. I recall seeing "Magic Beneath The Waves" a few months ago, and being totally blown away by it. It was just as amazing the second time. Thank you so much for sharing your world - and your gorgeous whiskery friends - with us. I truly hope I get to see the Farne Islands myself one day.
