Diving while staying at Excellence Riviera Maya

My friends and I are planning to stay at Excellence Riviera Maya for a week next year. My husband and I are the only divers in the group that will probably be 6 or 8 adults.

How is the diving in that area? We've done cenotes while staying further north, but have never been in the open water on the main land south of Cancun.

Any dive ops to recommend?
