What a fabulous whale shark encounter!! Never seen them better… this time it was the Whale Shark breaking the rules of marine conservation … (never approach a Whale Shark from the front), so technically you folks are in the clear! 😂

I am glad to hear that you like the video, @Searcaigh & @frogfish

Still working on editing the rest of Raja Ampat-Triton Bay trip video. But I need to put the video editing on hold as I'm getting ready for my next trip to Maldives Central Atolls & Fuvahmulah next week.

Oh boy! What an experience!
I'm looking forward to your next video on the trip!

How was your stay on White Manta? We'll join them in March and are very excited already.

I like White Manta & its sister ship, Blue Manta. I have been on both boats twice each. I’ll be back to Blue Manta in September for Banda Sea & in February next year for North Raja Ampat.

I enjoy the stay, good food, huge & clean cabin (200 sqft / 20 sqm), good massage service, etc. like in 5 star hotel. Low engine noise, no creaking sound like in wooden boat that would wake you up in the middle of the night during cruising in rough sea.

I left a 10ft paddle board on the boat for you to use between dives. 😉.

Another great video! I laughed watching the whale sharks going after the bubbles. They're certainly used to divers. Is this location where they feed the whale sharks? And, what are they eating? It doesn't look like live food.

“Bagan nets catch small fish like anchovies, squid, and other small pelagic fish. Bagan fishing is often done at night during a full moon.

Fish caught in bagan nets:
  • Anchovies: A small pelagic fish that is often targeted by bagan nets
  • Squid: A high-value catch for bagan nets
  • Tembang: A sardine
  • Japuh: A rainbow sardine
  • Selar: A yellowstripe scad
  • Petek: A leiognathidae fish
  • Kerong-kerong: A crescent grunter
  • Kapas-kapas: A gerres filamentosus fish
  • Cuttlefish: Another catch for bagan nets”
