I just don't log dives
Everyone knows about the great wreck diving off our coast, but there is a lot to see along our ledges as well. As you will see, the Lion Fish are numerous, but after this day there were probably 25 less of them. All went home to the dinner table! I even caught a quick glance of "Flipper".

Thanks for the video. Although I gotta tell you...that nice, soothing music as you were filming all those Lionfish...didn't really go together. You need something less soothing for videos of predators that are wiping out our reefs. <grin>

I've caught Lionfish off NC's coast too.

Where are these shelfs (I'm always on wreck dives)? Do any of the normal dive shops go there often?

I'd love to spear some Lionfish and bring them home.

Nice video it seems like the lionfish are here to stay

Next time I'll film the kills and make it more dramatic!

Some of these things were really big. I thought I had seen some big ones in the Caribbean but they are chumps compared to some of these. I think most of the boats know where the ledges are but everyone always wants to do wrecks so that's what most of the boats do. Besides the Lion Fish there were plenty of grouper for hunting if that's what anyone wants to do and there are always lobsters around as well.

I know Bobby will take folks there if they want to go.

No doubt. I have seen some on the wrecks from time to time but I think folks have been killing them so I don't see as many as I did. I was really surprised to see so many in one little area of the reef.

Looks like longish with a side of lobster to go with it. Yummmm. Where was the dive site?? Definitely looks like something I would enjoy. Also what was the water temp?

I'm not sure exactly where we were. I think Bobby said we had gone about 35 miles out but don't hold me to it. He said he knew of other sites like this one that had more dramatic ledges that they go to sometimes.

The water temps were in the low 80's (if I remember correctly) but on the way down, near the bottom, we hit a little temp. change. It cooled off a bit but I had on a shortie and was never cold. But we were at a depth of about 120-125 ft so maybe we couldn't stay down long enough to get cold! :D

Yep, they are everywhere I go now. Even when we divers kill all we see, we're only going to the popular sites, when they are everywhere. Unstoppable. I hope some other top predator gets a natural liking to them...because we all can't train moray eels to eat them everywhere.:(
