G'day there, I was just wondering if anyone out there in the underwater world has dived the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. I'm thinking of doing a 2-4wk get away and just want a hassle free, great, dive my head off holiday to recharge the juices.I was also wondering when the best time of year to be there is as well. Have been diving for over 20yrs in between construction gigs and like the off the beaten track kind of places. Any suggestions would be great.

Cheers Rod :)

Welcome to SCUBAboard!

I haven't had the chance, Go for It!

I dove Rarotonga a couple of years ago, and although we enjoyed ourselves, I would not have recommended it to someone else. A lot of the coral was dead, and we saw very few fish -- I enjoyed the dive primarily because of a single ENORMOUS moray, and my first Spanish dancer. I believe Leejnd recently dove there and had a much better experience.

For my money, if you wanted to dive the South Pacific, I'd head for the Tuamotos. Perhaps more expensive, but much more spectacular.
