Why not just use a regular one or the GP 3 way grip, shot in video and pull the selfie still out of the vid file?

Actually, there is a wifi receiver inside the top of the stick, the inside cable down to the control button. This way, the controller can operate the GoPro under water, with WIFI connect not losing.

pls see the attached diagram.

that's what i do now. It is a hassle though. for $70 or whatever that was it doesn't seem like a bad idea. especially if you don't already have a stick. those are around $40- $45 without this helpful feature..

Yes, the key is you can shoot a picture with self and the shark or turtle. Troublesome to have others people to shoot picture or vidoe when diving and the price of $70 is reasonable.

Would not trust it to have a proper seal at the plug's connection, especially when its only rated to 30M.
Making a water proof housing for an electronic device and then drilling a hole in it to stick what essentially looks like an AUX cable is not a good idea.
Also i would doubt the manufacturing quality of this item, it does not seem well built , for 70$ seems like a stretch.

The cable has the screwing plug with o ring inside to make the waterproof.

The manufacter is specialised at waterproof items and i dont doubt on the waterproof quality.
