hi all, the mrs and i are on board the tahiti aggressor from dec.10-17th (thanks mike v. for the tip about full moon) and it concludes on rangiroa. We're going to stay a night or 3 at the Kiaora hotel depending on landbased or day trip diving availability. To those of you who have been so many times, is there plenty of good diving that i can enjoy without taking a real long boat ride from rangiroa? As I understand it Rangiroa is pretty quiet which sounds just perfect but if the diving is spectacular in that area perhaps i'll stretch the trip out for 3 or 4 days instead of a night or 2. Thanks in advance, also any suggestions as to dive operators? Alternative would be to return to papiete and relax there for a few days and dive there. As we have never been to tahiti before any input is greatly appreciated.

Hi Lee,

Rangiroa is quite small, Tiputa Pass is only about a 4 min ride from the Kia Ora.
You will probably do 6 dives in Rangi with the Aggressor depending on weather.

Blue Dolphin Dive Shop is located at the Kia Ora and Pascal (the owner) runs a good operation.

Diving in Papeete is not so great but its a short hop to Moorea which has a great shark feed.

Thanks a bunch Mike, after reading about Tiputa pass this morning, I think I could well handle spending a few extra days on Rangiroa and doing that dive another 10+ times. As much as I would enjoy the shark dive, I'd rather keep flying to a minimum and diving to a max, so we'll just stay at the kia ora. Thanks again
