Hello,

I’ll be in the Kyoto/Osaka area in a couple of weeks. I’ll have a day free and was wondering if there’s any decent diving in the area.

Not looking to flying to Okinawa and it would have to be with a shop that can accommodate an English speaker.

Would love any tips/thoughts/knowledge. :)

I’m from Boston (although living in Singapore now), so I don’t mind cold water.

Just curious if you found anyone to dive with near Osaka. It looks like I might be there at the end of July and may have a day free to dive.

I lived in the Kobe area for three years.

The members of this facebook group are helpful: https://www.facebook.com/groups/338757706144206/

They are not as active as the Discover Divers Tokyo facebook group but many, particularly David Graham, will help you dive, find equipment and get it serviced.

Also, I did much of my diving at Shirasaki Ocean Park in Wakayama. It's one of the best training facilities I have ever encountered. SHIRASAKI OCEAN PARK . Unfortunately, I think the park was heavily damaged in a typhoon and might not be opened.

Also, at the very southern tip of Honshu is Dive Kooza. KOOZA

The owner, Naofumi Ueda, is wonderful.

I never did find anyone, but thanks for the good suggestions Pedro! Hopefully next time I'm in the area. :)
