Going down to storm afternoon of the 1st. planning on 1 or 2 dives and staying overnight at the mountaineer. then diving on monday 2 or 3. If interested drop a line and see if maybe we can get enough to do a potluck dinner sunday night. Jim.

So are you bringing that many tanks, or have you found a decent spot over there to get airfills? Please tell all if you have a place for fills... :-)

Dave,
I own 5 tanks plus a 19 cu ft pony. 2 pst80's and 3 steel 72's. 80's are setup for nitrox. Regardless usually get 2 good dives(40-50 min @max 50 ft) per tank out of the 80's and depending on depth can get 2 out of the 72's. I get GOOD:D fills from my lds(36-3800 on the 80's & 31-3300 in the 72's). I also work there so that helps. And I'm not aware of any places near storm to get fills. If you gave me a heads up I might be able to bring a couple al 80's also from the shop you could rent. I'd offer em free but I don't own the place. Either way it'd only be 10 bucks each.

If you'd be interested I can dive on Monday, but I won't be able to make it up there until noon or a "hair" before...

I'm good on tanks... question more so for some local buddies that were hit by reality of doing a multi day trip over there and having to rent tanks at the same time... I had a couple that I could loan out, but that doesn't help for multiple folks and multiple days. Trip didn't happen once the dollar signs started to register, so a place for airfills would have made it a bit more feasible...

How long of a drive is it from Washington DC?, I might be interested, and I have plenty of full tanks.

Looking at mapquest DC to Mount Storm WV is at 3hours 9minutes...

and for "fun" yahoo's weather is showing it as partly sunny 49 deg high on Sunday....

hopefully Monday will be a little nicer outside, but I doubt it.

I wonder if Santa is still down at the 90' platform?!?! (I'm fairly sure I I read something regarding Santa on old thread)

I'll be there sunday and monday. Gonna get one or two in on sunday including possible night dive and probably three on monday. And yes he's still there.:D I cleaned him off on nov 5th. there was also about two inches of silt on the platfrom. so I dusted it off also. not real smart. Had to feel around the edges to find the line back up. At least I was solo :14: so it didn't piss anybody off. :D Don't know if you've done it but there are some neat ledges and overhangs along the wall between 70&80 ft. Just beginning to find these. Not a big deal to most but I find em interesting.

EXCELLENT. See you on Monday. Looking forward to meeting never can seem to find enough people to go diving with...

No, haven't seen the wall and overhangs... gotten some glimpses at the rockish wall when between the 50' and 90' but never ventured very far.

Had to laugh at your "cleaning". I've only made it down to the 90' platform once, and on that dive my buddy made a couple of bad fin strokes and "wooosh" I just watched the ground swell up around him and then me and then there was nothing. Know exactly what you mean about feeling the sides and finding the rope. Haven't been able to find anyone to head back down there and/or never quite seems to be the right timing.

hmmm I'm going to have to try to figure out a way to get up there earlier....

We'll probably do first dive monday around 9:30 or so by the time we get geared up. I usually do a deep first thing. If so and you're not there yet I can still do a 70-80 footer after a decent interval. I'll show ya around the wall and ledges. Not really long as far as away from the line, maybe 15 or 20 kicks either way, but it's still interesting looking at the different stuff. A couple you can actually get completely under and back in a few feet. We'll all most likely be diving dry. Also taking the AGA's down to try out definitely sunday and maybe monday as well. First time in a full face should be real cool.:14: I'll be there with my blue pontiac aztec DTV(diver transport vehicle:D ). See ya monday. Jim

Even with Storm being in state, I have passed by but never dived it. What is some of the spec' on the lake....bottom depth etc?
Thanks
