There's a show coming on Discovery Channel I think at 9pm CST on Sunday (Aug 21) called "Amazon Abyss" about diving in the Amazon and all the critters that live in the river.

Looked like it included Pirahnas, etc.

just FYI if you're interested. (hope this is helpfull)

It’s the candirú (Vandellia cirrhosa) that would worry me...

There was a nice article about this BBC expedition in the March 2005 issue of Dive magazine (www.divemagazine.co.uk)—they carted an amazing amount of gear to Brazil, including five Inspirations, a BioMarine MK15.5, a BioMarine BMR 500, a modified Dräger Dolphin (eight rebreathers), a Nuytco Talent helmet, a ROV on top of all the open circuit and camera equipment.

I remember reading about it Vie and being amazed at the amount of logistical support that was necessary to pull this off. It made a great article though :)

I need somebody to record it for me :frown: I am fascinated by all the catfish especially the "boca grande". Wouldn't want to dive with those ;)

Saw the series when the BBC showed it earlier this year. Its ok but im still a bit confused how they keep complaining about the low visibility in the river - surely its fairly obvious it'd be awful in there.
