Diving in Puerto Plata / Sosua DR

I am heading to Puerto Plata in May and I am looking for some recommendations on shops to dive with. I have read a bunch of the reviews on here and it seems like some of the shops have gone out of business.

Can anyone make recommendations on a shop to dive with other than Dressil?

Try Merlin - a German dive shop, I used to dive with them when I lived in the area, they are still around, there is a new shop run by Pablo, unfortunately don't know the name, it wasn't there when I was around Sosua. Also Northern Coast diving is still around

Thank you for the prompt response. I would be staying in Puerto Plata. Is it worth it to get out to Sosua to dive vs the shops in Puerto Plata? What about further west instead of east?

Does anyone know of the transportation system there and the best way to get around? When I was in Jamaica all of the hotels wanted at least 3-4 times what the local taxis would take and on top of that the hotel did not want you to know of the local taxi system. Is there something like that in Puerto Plata?
