Last weekend I went diving in one of my favorite spots, Boynton Beach, FL. I live in Clearwater, FL and we have some local diving but we are really more famous for our sandy white beaches. Boynton Beach is on the Treasure Coast and when you dive there, it is easy to see why. Visibility ranges between about 35ft (on a a bad day) to 100+ ft on a good day and averages about 80ft. There is a lot of nice reef there, more fish then Cozumel and the dives are always drift dives.

I was diving in the Keys just a month ago and I actually think the diving in Boyton Beach/West Palm is better. The dives are a little deeper on average and the reefs are in better shape. I'll report back next month after my Dry Tortuga's trip. I'm trying to get that in before the US and Cuba compete to destroy Florida's coastline with oil rigs.

I liked Boynton Beach over the Dry Tortuga's. Plus it had my favorite Florida dive op. Underwater Explorers - SCUBA Diving Boynton Beach, Delray, Palm Beach, Reefs and Wrecks

I have never tried that dive op. But I will look them up. I'm planning to go back to Boynton Beach in August for lobster season. There are two dive ops in the area that I like to go with: Splashdown Divers and The Scuba Club. You can look either one up online. But I am definitely going to check out Underwater Explorers next time I am over there.

I'm trying to get some dives in before we're all too broke from $10 gallon gas that we can't afford to dive, need a buddy? :11doh:

Actually, I am going with a friend of mine. But we are going on a live-aboard for 3 days to dive in the Tortugas. Check out www.ultimategetaway.net for more details. Total cost is around $850.00 after you add in Nitrox fills and gas surcharge. I think it is still a pretty good deal. They advertise 8 dive sites a day. Check out the site for booking details. The ship sleeps 20... I am going on July 10-13. If they have anymore spots and you decide to book, then maybe I'll see you there.

In terms of Boynton Beach, I am aiming for the first weekend in August to go lobstering. I'm a little new to posting on ScubaBoard so I am not sure how to send you my email or anything for coordination. But if you know how to do it, then send me your email and we'll get in touch and maybe you can come along for some lobstering with me in Boynton Beach, FL.
