Hi all!

We are going to Fiji and planning to stay at Wananavu Resort for our honey moon in August this year. I've heard a lot of good things about diving in Bligh Water. I've been looking for information whether its suitable for a beginner to dive there? I myself have about 170 dives but my wive only has about 13 dives. So I'm concerned whether this is a good dive spot for our holiday.
Any inputs and infos will be highly appreciated.

Thanks all!
Raist

Hey Raist,

You're gonna like Wananavu a lot, especially for a honeymoon--it's romantical.

Blight Water is simply super SCUBA, although 13 dives is cutting it close for your fiance. The best sites are deep, there can be current & you're a long way out.

In any event, last time I was at Wananavu the rules were:

- no new arrivals to the resort on board the boat
- at least 6 divers on the boat
- all divers interested in the Bligh Waters
- amenable weather conditions

It's unusual when all of these are fully met.

But don't dispair as there are some lovely dive sites much closer to shore.

Have fun.

thanks for your advise Doc! I"ll just hope that there's some easier dives for her there as well.
We are really looking forward to go there after hearing all the positive reviews.

I agree; you'll love Wananavu. Most of the Bligh Water dives are very clear water and little current. If the DM's say there is strong current, you can tell your wife to skip that dive. The dives inside the reef are nice, but not as good as the Blight Waters.

You will love Reef Safari divers and Kristen and Jeremy and the crew! They will take good care of you and you will be treated to some excellent diving!! Don't forget to try the shore dive. We saw a LOT of stuff including a huge school of barracudas right next to the exit ladder! Have a great time!

Hi
The closer dives are really very good, but the Vatu-i-Ra passage (Blight Waters) is much better. I would be happy diving there with a relative beginner especially after she has done a couple of dives closer in. Clear, warm water, lots to see and a professional crew. IT's only really the weather that puts off the trips out there.
Have fun!

Thanks for all the feedback!

Greg, do you live in Fiji? If so, do you mind if I ask you some questions? Because of my wife's inexperience (she's a natural diver though) maybe I will need some expert's advice (apart from the dive centre's opinion of course) :) Before we go to Fiji, we'll try to do some diving so she gets some training.

your gonna love it. the guys there will take real good care of your wife and your both going have a real good time at the resort.

Hi
Yes, I have lived in Fiji for 10 years and run a dive company here - not affiliated to any resort though. Sure, ask away.
Cheers
Greg
