Hi folks
I'm from Singapore and due to the monsoon season in east coast peninsular malaysia,
we can't do dives at our usual spots of Dayang / Tioman etc. I heard theres comparable diving in Batam but I have not found much info about operators organising dives there.
I'm wondering if any of you can help fill me in with some info.

The only operator i managed to 'googled' was coral cove but they have not responded to my email and queries.

Have anyone dived there recently?
Care to share your experiences?

cheers..

Of all the places in Indonesia, why Batam?.... the diving is crap to non-existent.

If you are desperate, go to Bintan; however, the diving is still average there.

Easy accessibility from singapore and affordability....
Places like manado and komodo are out of my budget.

Bintan could do as well.

Stick to Bintan, i haven't heard of any reliable dive sites or ops on Batam.

There is a dive shop attached to one of the big hotels if i'm not mistaken.

If you want to do quick & low budget diving, why don't you just dive at Pulau Hantu in Singapore?? it's the same diving condition as Batam....ie..... if you are very lucky you get 5m viz.

I'm prepared to do so (dive in hantu) but my pals aren't.
Anyway if my Batam/Bintan plans fail to materialise, I'll be diving Hantu with a buddy in dec..

Not much diving in Batam that I know of was a resort based dive shop Riau based in Bintan but believe that it has closed its doors now.

Believe that in some spots there was some okay critter stuff/

If you do find anything post a report on what you found

Cheers
