Hi all - new to the board, and have a question about diving in India. I was certified in Hawaii back in '08. but didn't dive again for a few years. But I recently got back in to it in the Flordia Keys. I live in India, so I'm trying to figure out how to get a couple of dive trips in per year, and it seems that Goa and the Andamans are the most likely destinations. But when I was looking online at the operators there, it seems like they generally do a "full day" boat trip that runs from about 8am to 2 or 3pm with two dives per day.

The operators I'm used to would do a 2-tank morning trip and a 2-tank afternoon trip - admittedly a longer day, but if I'm going to make the effort/expense of flying somewhere to dive, I'd like to get more than 2 dives in per day. Is there a reason the operators only do 2 dives per day? Anyone out there know of operators in these places that let you get in 3 or 4 per day?

hey Sharkesq... :-) there is also a dive center in pondycherry (Temple Adventures Scuba Diving Surfing India ocean adventure water sports sea nitrox) and they do some days 3 dive/days depending on customer demand, and weather. the amount of dive done per day depends alot on demand and weather you need a good group of avid diver whom want to dive as much as possible to fill a dive boat twice a day :-) if your interested in coming this side or knowing a bit more let me know :-)

You need to look at liveaboard :)
There is a new one started in India and they have some very interesting options for exploring north andamans (Havelock and all are better to do from the beach)
i'm planning a dive group for Jan last week/feb first week to Narcondam-Andamans. Gimme a shout if you want in, it will be great to have you on-board with us along with the other divers!
