Many thanks for your reply, it helps knowing these details in advance! I did initially look at going to Cebu but read that there is quite a bit of fishing with dynamite, it is otherwise an attractive possibility when traveling from Singapore.

I will definitely start looking into Manado and Bali! Many thanks for your suggestions, it is much appreciated.

Thanks for all the feedback and pointers. I will be hooking up with White Manta this weekend and I am really excited. I have been to both Manado and Bali before and wanted to try something new. I'll let you know how it all went.

Daniel, in the Manado area, strongly consider Lembeh. Diving is year round and not affected by the monsoons. In Bali at that time, it's the beginning of the rainy season but that should not stop your trip. Consider staying in the north and diving in the Tulamben, Amed, Gili Selang (east) or Pemuteran and Menjangan (west) areas.

David, I'll be heading to the Black Manta in Komodo this weekend but Chris & Marco are both on board every trip. You should be doing one dive at my favorite site, Jack Rock. Take a torch, move VERY slowly and look in every crack. Last weekend we found 12 beautiful cowries, a handful of lovely electric blue & orange cleaner pipefish, banded pipefish, 6 species of nudies (two mating pairs), a nudi egg cluster, porcelain shrimp, banded coral shrimp and a hell of a lot of fish - all in 5 meter viz. I also got a manicure from a dozen clear cleaner shrimp. Let me know how it goes.

Hey Danny,

Don't rule out Cebu, just head from Cebu out to some of the other islands, especially Malapascua. Great diving there and a good variety of pelagics and macro as well as top notch dive shops and a nice quite beach. Can't go wrong with Manado/Bali/Malapascua! You can also get to Puerto Gallera via a flight to Manila, and that's an area that is also not so affected by the weather.
