Diving Derawan and the surrounding islands

We are going to Kalimantan for 3 weeks in April and have planned to spent 1 of the weeks diving and snorkeling on Derawan and the surrounding islands.
Does anybody know the possibilities for diving if we choose to stay at one of the budget places instead of Derawan Dive Resort?
Are there other dive centers/shops on Derawan? If not, is it then possible to dive with them if we do not stay at the resort?

You might try contacting Kadek Wiryawan who owns Losmen Darakan in Derawan right next to the resort. He can also arrange diving. His email address is:
