I'd like to share a short film and some impressions from our recent trip to Dahab. We had previously traveled several times to the (deep) south of Egypt and always loved it. However, after reading and hearing reports about coral bleaching (including on Scubaboard), we decided to look for an alternative. Dahab caught our attention, it seemed to offer a good balance between a lively atmosphere with nice restaurants and a relaxed (not overcrowded) vibe.

Dahab certainly didn’t disappoint, in fact, the diving exceeded our expectations. The reefs throughout the area appeared healthy, and we spotted a wide variety of marine life, such as stonefish, turtles, many octopuses, crocodile fish, and various macro species. We stayed at The Bridge, a small hotel that caters specifically to divers. The service was excellent, as was the experience with the attached dive center, Liquid Divers. They offered a great mix of shore and boat dives in and around Dahab. Despite its central location right on the promenade, the hotel was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. We travelled as a family with two teenagers, which turned out to be a great match with Dahab. There’s plenty to explore above the surface too, making it an ideal place for diving, relaxing, and experiencing a lively atmosphere at your own pace.

I hope our video gives a good impression. If you’d like to know more, feel free to reach out.

Did the hotel have its beach to dive from and for non-divers to enjoy swimming and/or snorkeling?

Does it have a restaurant and can offer an all-inclusive stay?

Diagonally across from the hotel is a small beach, visible in the video between 0:33 and 0:39. It's a nice spot for swimming and snorkeling, though less suited for sunbathing. Dahab offers plenty of shore diving and snorkeling opportunities throughout the area.

The hotel has its own restaurant serving both Eastern and Western-style breakfasts, as well as lunch and snacks. Breakfast is included. They don’t offer an all-inclusive option and honestly, I’d strongly advise against going all-inclusive in Dahab. One of the things we really appreciated was the wide variety of food and restaurants available in town.

I saw in your video and when I visited the hotel's website that divers have their wetsuits and equipment on when still in the hotel, does this mean that there is a dive site nearby within a short distance from inside the hotel?

Do they serve decent food and are reasonably priced?

For your very kind patience in answering my questions.

Yes, if you exit the hotel (by foot) you are on the promenade, where you can enter the water (across the street). A one minute walk.

It's not the cheapest hotel in town, but it's relatively new and looks better than other places I saw. Definitely reasonably priced for what you get. On their website, you can find some offers that include airport transfer, accommodation, breakfast, and diving: DIVING IS OUR WAY OF LIFE – The Bridge Dahab

We really enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel.

For dinner, Dahab town is amazing, with many great options within walking distance. You’ll find a wide variety of cuisines, including Middle Eastern, Italian, Asian, and more.

Thank you!!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful video. My husband and I had a few trips to Dahab after we were first certified back in 2008, it looks just as interesting as it was then. We loved the atmosphere and all those restaurants in this cute Egyptian town. What camera equipment and IT program did you use ? Thank you !

Dahab in 2008 must have been even more awesome! But luckily, it's still charming. I used a GoPro with an Inon UFL-G140 lens and two Weefine Solar Flare 13000 Pro lights. The editing was done in DaVinci Resolve.
