I just spent three weeks diving around Dahab, Egypt. This is how it looked:

(GoPro4, Orange filter)
Visibility was about 20 m in the bay and up to 45 m at Gabr el Bint (1 hour boat ride south).
The coral is in impeccable shape at Gabr and other southern sites.
My favourite dive shop is Orca Dive Centers, run by Wael Derballa, an extremely experienced, calm and talented instructor and guide. He and his staff maintain a shipshape shop, with top gear in excellent condition.
Dahab is an extremely inexpensive destination (luxury 2-bdrm villas at about 20 euros a night and shore dives also at about 20 euros) and is far more laid-back than Sharm.
