Hi all!
Just thought I would let you know that I will be doing a dive trip to the Northwind wreck this Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The Morning charter is full but have room for the afternoon. This wreck is near Little Current in the North Channell of Lake Huron on the far side of Manitoulin Island. (largest fresh water island in the world). If anyone is up that way and wants to dive the Northwind then feel free to give me a call.
Sean @ 416-844-6624

Cheers and have a great weekend!

Sean - who are you using for a charter for this trip? To late of notice for this weekend, but thats a wreck I'd like to get to next year....

I would assume he's using his own charter boat.

Yes I did charter my own boat. The weekend went well. I was questioning myself about pulling the boat 650km up north but it all turned out great. Not a trip I would do often but now consider it "do-able" . I was also lucky to be able to dive on the Northwind once each day (3 dives) with the final dive having a run time of 103 minutes. I had the pleasure of diving with a Northwind veteran named Ian Morley. Ian is a local resident to the area and is responsible for the SOS mooring and Bouy on the Northwind. (which was stolen from the site shortly before our arival) This gave me the chance to view the wreck a little differently than in the past. It was a re-learning experience also since I put myself into a situation where I got to see why I always do things in a certain way. Funny how you are always reminded of what your supposed to do when your not doing it!!!! But enough about that. The Hospitality was great, the weather was great, the diving was great! What more could one ask for? Oh yeah...a Timmys and a DQ 5 minutes from Ians place!
A hats off to Ian, his family and friends. It was like a breath of fresh air to see such easy and free hospitality........very do-able!

Whadya mean enough about that?

Please tell SoScuba, what went on that was "interesting", and gave you a moment of personal ponderance?

Yes, I know the feeling too :-)

I think I smell another chance to learn something here.

Didnt think I would get away with that! Fortunately for me (hehe) I dont have time now but I will post when I get home on Sunday eve.

Basically... we do certain things for a reason and its the time we dont do those things that we are reminded why we do those things. Like carry both our reel AND lift bag with us...or.....take a compass heading when venturing off a wreck...or run a line when venturing off a wreck.......picking up your deco gas after a bottle drop before venturing off of a wreck....specially when your on a deco dive! (and lift bag on the bottle)

Are you hearing me????
Got to go. See ya later. Will expand later but I just gave you lots of hints!

Cheers

Can I call you a dumb-a$$ now without having you freak on me???

Hehehehe

FYI everyone, SoScuba and I are OK with each other. He knows I'm joking.

Don't ya buddy?

I will of course refrain from stating the obvious, and then asking him who he was diving with that would let him do such things, as THEN he might get a little cheesed at me :-)

I always do appreciate the honesty though.

Best of luck with the charter "thing" bud!

Steve

Sorry Steve. I typed the whole story over at least a half an hour and one wrong key stroke......all gone!!!! (i type slow) Will try again later when I get the time.

Yeah, I believe ya ;-)

I'd say that too...hehehehe

I have been wondering though.

I gotta say SoScuba, you're doing quite well with your budding business. Good luck man. A nice guy like you deserves the success.
