Fascinating indeed ... thanks for sharing that.

The equipment should be sealed with the
valves closed to retain the breathing gas for analysis and transported as soon as
possible for examination.
I was taught to leave even the valve untouched when handing over the equipment to investigators, because the accident might have been caused by the valve being less than completely open.
