Hello to all the divers,

I have heard that you really cant dive any part of Australia unless you go on a liveaboard. Is this true ? Or is there some places that you can access fairley close to shore by a daily two tank dive boat, and if so where would you recommend ? I dont want to spend alot of money flying over there from the states and not be able to do any good diving without a liveabord.

Thanks for your help bigtime

Liz

Thank you so much for correcting the false rumour as we are so looking forward to the trip next year and now I really cant wait.... Thank you for the link.

Who ever told you that was flat out lieing!

I have probably around 10 day boats within 1 hour of me and 8 of those much closer.....

Where abouts are you looking to travel to?

yeah, there are tonnes of shore dives in sydney as well as boats which go out every weekend for morning dives.

Cairns you can't shore dive, you need to go on a liveaboard or on the day boats (liveaboards are better)

As the others have said, what you have been told is not true.

Great Barrier Reef has liveaboards, Jervis Bay (south of sydney has 1 ... oceantrek) but other than that it is pretty much all day boats

Sydney and Melbourne also have some good shore diving.
