Hi

Just wondering if anyone having any experiences diving during the monsoon season (Early December) in Sipadan island?

Hope you guys can give some guides...

P.S. Been there in June this year and it's fantastic but thinking of going back this coming December. Just worried about the weather....

Thanks.

Ong

Hi Ong....haven't been to Sipadan in December, but apprently it is their off peak season, so I guess the weather won't be good...why would you want to go all the way and can't enjoy the dive, why don't you go early next year. I am going to Sipadan in May 05.

I was there in Feb. but the best season is March-May when there are more sightings of large pelagics. December is the closing month for the operators in Sipadan and they will be busy shifting out to Mabul. Next year you will be staying in Mabul and the boats will take you to Sipadan, a 25 mins. trip. No more unlimited dives at the drop-off. I'm saving to go next year too, probably in March/April once I can get enough company.

I was there in the middle of last november...that's pretty close. Everything was fine. We had a couple showers very early in the morning before the dive day began. The days were full of good weather. The boats and sites weren't crowded either.

Thanks guys for your input. Seems that there aren't any choice but for me to wait. We went there June this year (staying in Mabul, not Sipadan) and the weather was great except for the occasional morning shower, that is....
We just can't wait to go back except we have to wait for some of our group members who are on some important assignments. No point going if we can't totally enjoy, rite?
Anyway, I've checked with some local operators recently about going there in December and seems that they are still open at the end of the year. The only set back that I foresee is the visibility may be bad.
Actually, our initial plan was to dive Sipadan in December and Phi Phi in February 2005. Guess we have to change....

may i just ask where you stayed? how long? How much did you spend?
