I would like to know what the recomendations are for diving after delivery if there is any. I meen, are they other limitations than the scare healing (if there´s a scare)? thanks.

My other half was told , similar to "other recreational pursuits" if you get my meaning. Eg Approx six weeks. Obviously this would vary I suppose depending upon the amount of scarring etc.

Not a doctor just a Dad.

From my collection of data on diving medical issues:

Postpartum Diving:

After vaginal delivery, diving can be resumed after release by the obstetrician. This is usually after the cervix closes, at about 21 days. In another week, most muscle tone has returned, depending upon the level of activity of the mother. Barring any pregnancy related complications, such as anaemia and poorly healed episiotomy, return to diving is usually advised at a minimum of 4 weeks.

Most obstetricians advise a wait of 4-6 weeks before returning to full activity after caesarean delivery. Couple this with the need for conditioning, complete wound healing and the possibility of need for blood regeneration - a period of 8 weeks would be advised before diving. A postpartum haemoglobin determination should be performed and anything below 10 Gm Hgb should be corrected before allowing diving.

Multiple births, medically complicated pregnancies with underlying medical conditions, complications of both vaginal and caesarean births all have to be individually assessed in the decision as to approval for return to diving.

As always, check with your own family doctor and a diving doctor specialist if you have any concerns. They're the only ones who can advise you honestly.

thank you very much. Hopefully my instructrice will be delivering soon, my buddy and her are the only ones that catch up with my diving addiction.
