A few weeks ago I found out that I have to undergo a liver transplantation in the future. I wonder if it is possible that you can continue diving after a transplant..

The short answer is yes, but a lot will depend on how you recover and what medications you need to take after the transplant.

If you sustain a typical uncomplicated liver transplant, a diver needs to pass the routine physical requirements required to dive recreationally and recertified annually.

While there is no standard on the annual certification, most resorts will be nervous and require a written statement clearing the patient to dive. An annual clearance will more than meet any resort's requirement, and this can be made by the same physicians who check the status of your transplant, which is done often more than annually.
